MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Christy has been in the physician recruitment field since the mid 1990’s and joined Duke Health’s recruitment team in 1998. During her early Duke tenure, Christy focused her physician recruitment efforts on Hematology/Oncology and Cardiology, assisting with the growth of Duke Cancer Network and Duke Heart Network across eastern NC.  She has more recent and long-standing relationships with the Departments of Neurology, Dermatology and Neurosurgery, plus Duke’s Spine and Physiatry Divisions.  Her knowledge of Duke Health System and the greater Triangle area continues to be a tremendous asset to any candidate, and her 25+ years’ experience includes the full scope of physician recruiting! 

Having a passion for relationship building (be it with Duke Department Chairs, search leads, administrative liaisons, physicians or their partners), Christy’s greatest satisfaction is actually after the signed contract.  Seeing a new hire happy at Duke and their family happy in the community is a wonderful thing!  That’s when Christy enlists his/her help in recruiting additional physicians to Duke.  When physicians are happy and enjoying a thriving practice: they’re excited to help recruit others to join their healthcare team.   

Christy grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina and received her BA from UNC-Chapel Hill.  Though obviously a strong supporter of Duke Health, she happily shares to just about anyone that she remains an avid Tarheel sports fan.  She even brought along a Go Heels water bottle to her initial Duke interview as a conversation starter!:)  She’s happily married to Pete, a Duke Ultrasound Sonographer, and they have 2 grown children.  Christy’s now enjoying a new phase of life: empty nesting!!
